Why does the furnace not come with a filter slot cover?
We recently got a question asking us why furnaces don’t automatically come with a cover for the filter slot area. Most furnaces do not come with a cover for the filter.
Since the blower is right next to the filter, the amount of air that gets leaked past the filter is extremely high.
Due to the nature of where a furnace usually is located such as a basement or crawl space, this unfiltered air is probably even more contaminated than the typical air inside a home.
This will cause dirt to build up on your furnace blower.
Typically a built in furnace filter cover happens at the installation of the HVAC unit.
However, there is a tool you can use to easily fix this issue.
